FISHING: Original, Limited-Edition, Giclée Print (unframed)
Father and son quietly fish together off the top of a low dam in sunshine, surrounded by a soft, blue sky, distant hills and an expanse of rippling river water in the foreground. A massive railroad pillar rises as the backdrop for the father who stands beside a cascade of white water flowing over the dam. His son is squatting nearby. They are surrounded by an ensemble of blues, whites and browns with an addition of green. This is an original, fine art, giclée print in a limited edition, created and hand-signed by me Loren Friesen.

PROCESS OF CREATING FISHING:
I took photographs of the father and son fishing off this dam on Tama River in western Tokyo. This area near my house was a favorite place where I brought our Golden Retriever to go swimming. I traced parts of 3 of the photos with pencil, removing some of the cluttered details. After projecting a slide of this drawing onto a small panel, I painted a small oil painting, using the photos as sources. Then I scanned the painting and imported the image into Photoshop. In Photoshop I made many adjustments over the course of about 7 years, reworking the river water, repainting the father's head, moving and repainting the large rock in the river, adding leaves to the far left tree, and repainting the grassy mound it is standing on.
