PICNIC IN EARLY SPRING: Original, Limited-Edition, Giclée Print (unframed)

SKU: 7

In a park, a family of three––father, mother and little child––sits quietly on the grass in the middle distance. They are next to a bend in a creek, encircled by trees, with a great expanse of grass before them. This black and white print is filled with the varied textures of trees, bushes, grass and water–an original, fine art, giclée print in a limited edition, created and hand-signed by me Loren Friesen.

PROCESS OF CREATING PICNIC IN EARLY SPRING:

In pencil I traced parts of 3 photographs taken over a span of 8 months at Showa Memorial Park in western Tokyo. I made a digital copy of this small sketch and brought it into Photoshop. When I enlarged this pencil sketch in Photoshop, it also enlarged the pencil marks, making them look coarse. Over a period of 7 years I refined the pencil marks and the entire composition. Along the way I scrapped a couple of efforts to add color to this picture, realizing that black & white, with its accompanying textures, had the greatest impact. When I tried to add color, the print "talked back": It wanted to be in black & white.

    SHIPPING:

There is no additional cost for shipping within the contiguous United States.

Scheduled to arrive in 7-14 business days.

    Cannot ship to P.O. Boxes.

    PACKAGING FOR SHIPPING:

In order to ship your print to you, it will be carefully rolled up in protective Glassine paper (which is pH neutral & acid-free), put in a sturdy mailing tube, and shipped to you via FedEx or the United States Postal Service.

UNROLLING THE PRINT WHEN IT COMES OUT OF THE TUBE:

DO NOT try to take the curl out of the paper by bending it the other way. You could easily buckle the paper and put a crease in it.

Gently lay the print on a flat surface, putting Glassine paper (that came in the tube) under the print and on top of it. Lay some books on top of the print and give it time to straighten naturally.
